It was celebrations, jollifications and merrymaking at Ichida Community in Anaocha Local Govt. Area of Anambra State on Thursday January 2, 2020 as Mr and Mrs Joseph Nwolisa renewed their marital vows fifty years after their wedding.
The golden couple as they were fondly called, who wedded on January 1, 1970 during the Nigerian Civil War, were all full of thanks to GOD as they marked the Golden Jubilee Celebration of their union with a Concelebrated Thanksgiving Mass led by the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, His Lordship Paulinus Ezeokafor.
Speaking during the homily, Bishop Ezeokafor described the couple as dictionaries of love who had weathered numerous marital storms to see the golden day. He decried the high rate of divorce and domestic violence and abuse prevalent in the society and called on young couples to emulate people who are successful in their marital vocation.
Bishop Ezeokafor further praised the golden jubilarians for striving through thick and thin to raise a godly family which had produced 2 catholic priests, Rev. Frs Maximus and Marcellinus Nwolisa. The Bishop further appreciated GOD for the good health of mind and body the golden couple enjoyed and prayed GOD to keep protecting them.
After the thanksgiving mass where the couple had renewal of their marital vows and exchange of rings, the golden couple were full of gratitude to GOD for the rare privilege of witnessing the golden jubilee of their marriage. They gave thanks to GOD for life, love, family and everything they have been through in life which GOD had seen them through.
