The Youth Earnestly Seek Soludo (YESS) group, today hearkened to the call to Ndi Anambra to assist the state government in the fight against coronavirus by the former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Professor Chulwuma Charles Soludo, by donating the sum of N360, 000 to the Anambra State Government’s COVID-19 Support Funds Account as part of the group’s contribution towards the fight against the pandemic.
Presenting the cheque at the office of the Secretary to the Anambra State Government (SSG), the Convener of the group, Comrade Nelson Omenugha, PhD, said the donation was in line with the earlier donation of N10, 000, 000 made by Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo for the same purpose.
‘YESS is a body of eminent young people mentored by Prof Soludo. We have come forward with this token of support in line with our mentor’s call to all Ndi Anambra to assist the Government in these challenging times, especially now that the world is faced with the coronavirus pandemic which has continued to threaten lives and livelihoods of millions of our people in the state,’ Omenugha said.
Comrade Omenugha who led the delegation lauded the efforts of Willie Obiano in tackling the spread of the virus in the state.
He commended the various palliative works set in motion by the state, including the stimulus packages provided to the elderly and vulnerable in various communities across the state.
Omenugha enjoined Ndi Anambra to give maximum cooperation to the government, noting that the fight against what he described as a deadly virus, must be concerted and collective. He called on young people to take up initiatives that would better the lots of the people in these trying times.
Contributing, the Director of Media and Strategic Communication, YESS Anambra, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, reiterated the need to observe all precautionary measures provided by relevant health agencies, and prayed for speedy divine intervention.
