A 10-man team of new executive, was last Sunday, September 1, 2019, inaugurated to pilot the affairs of the Young Catholic Professionals (YCP) of the Good Shepherd Chapel of Archbishop A.K. Obiefuna Retreat, Pastoral and Conference Centre, Okpuno, for the next four years.
The new executive, who were elected in a general meeting of the group that was held at the centre premises on Sunday, August 25, 2019, is expected to serve for one single tenure of four years, in line with the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) directive.
Inaugurating the executive, the Director, Archbishop A.K. Obiefuna Retreat, Pastoral and Conference Centre, Okpuno, Rev Fr Emeka Anene, charged the executive to work hard and create opportunities that would improve the youths and better the society. He described the YCP as a good platform for the youths who were professionals in their various fields of endeavour to excel.
In his acceptance speech, the YCP President, Mr Peter Nwokolo, called for the needed collaboration with the Catholic Women’s Organisation (C.W.O) and the Catholic Men’s Organisation (C.M.O), to, as the mothers and fathers, support, advice and correct them, whenever necessary.
While noting that the post of the president on the heels of his twin brother, Mr Paul Nwokolo, was a big task for him, the new president however, pledged to do his best. He noted that the mission of YCP was to encourage youths to work on the path of Christ.
Mr Nwokolo, who is a teacher with Tansi International College, Awka, enjoined all working class youths of the chapel to register and be part of the group so as to work together with the executive, make the best out of the youths, and prevent them (youths) from constituting nuisance in society.
