The traditional ruler of Adazi-Nnukwu, Anaocha L.G.A in Anambra State, Igwe Professor Augustine Obiekezie, Adama of Adazi-Nnukwu, has said that the Nwannedinamba of Adazi-Nnukwu which he conferred on Senator Victor Umeh, OFR, KSS, the senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, was in recognition of numerous contributions to community and human development.
Among the contributions of Senator Victor Umeh, OFR to the development of Adazi-Nnukwu include, renovation of classroom block at Loretto Special Science School, Adazi-Nnukwu; renovation of classroom block at Bubendorff Memorial Grammar School, Adazi-Nnukwu and an ongoing chapel project which he is building at BMGS, Adazi-Nnukwu.
Speaking when he honoured Senator Umeh with the title at the 2018 New Yam Festival of Adazi-Nnukwu, held at the Afor Civic Centre, Adazi-Nnukwu on August 25, 2018, Igwe Professor Obiekezie, commended Umeh for his consistent contributions to the development.
The traditional ruler, who presented Senator Sir Victor Umeh with a symbolic Adazi-Nnukwu key, said the key which was the first to an individual, gave Umeh (Nwannedinamba), full access to Adazi-Nnukwu, and made him full part of the town.
Speaking to the press, the President General of Adazi-Nnukwu Town Development Union, Hon Frank Madubuike, said the choice of Senator Umeh for the distinguished title was a unanimous decision. He noted that it was a deserving honour for Umeh, because according to him, Adama Adazi-Nnukwu do not confer chieftaincy title of every individual, but on those who merited the distinguished honour.
The visibly delighted Senator Victor Umeh, thanked God and the community for the honour. Umeh, who said he had since adopted Adazi-Nnukwu as his second home town, promised to continuously contribute to the development of the town. Umeh, who is an old boy of BMGS, Adazi-Nnukwu, announced that Adazi-Nnukwu developmental projects were priority his current constituency budget.
