Sunday 7th July 11, 2019 was an unforgettable day for the students of St. John of God Secondary School Awka, who celebrated their Y.C.S climax action, induction JSS 1 Y.C.Sers, and send off of their graduating Y.C.Sers. The event was held at the school premises Awka.
In his Homily, the Assistant Manager of the school, Rev Fr John Bosco Nkeanyimuo drawing from the gospel reading of the day, said that Jesus told us to be strong and stand firm notwithstanding any temptation. “ Christ sent his disciples into the world to go and proclaim the good news without giving them anything and also telling them not to go with anything, not even with their bag or any of their shoes. Upon that, they left to proclaim the good news believing that God is with them” Fr Nkeanyimuo said.
“We are priests, kings and prophets of God. So my dear Y.C.Sers, let us rejoice today and be assured from the readings of today that God is always with us no matter what the case may be, because He has called us to be His people and submit to His good will which will lead us to eternal life. We pray that we will continue to grow in the blessings of the Almighty God” Fr Nkeanyimuo concluded.
The event was full of joy and spiced with welcome songs, calisthenics, dance drama and other dances, parliamentary debate (Mission schools are better than Government School). Other events included contestaing for Miss Y.C.S and Lolo Y.C.S, and others alike.
Invited schools present were Tansi international Collage Awka, Igwebuike Grammar school Awka, Austica Memorial College Nanka, among others. Among the dignitaries were the chairman of the occasion, Daniel Nwokebilinwa, Father of the day, Mr John Ezenwaka, and mother of the day, Lady Prisca Akwoaka.
