UNIZIK VC Hosts Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria

The Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Professor Joseph Ahaneku, FAS, last Tuesday received the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency, Zhou Pingjian in his office.

The Ambassador was in the University for the October 1st Chinese Ambassador’s Scholarship Award for excelling and indigent students. Forty-eight students of the University benefitted from the scholarship.

The students were drawn from various faculties in the University with 14 from the Department of Chinese Studies.

Forty-eight were chosen significantly to mark the 48th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the People’s Republic of China and Nigeria.

The Ambassador presented a cash prize of N100, 000 each to the deserving students, while expressing the hopes that the scholarship award would continue.

Fides reports that 47 students benefitted from the scholarship in 2018.
