UNIZIK Holds Matriculation for First Year Students

. . . Warns against Lateness to Lectures, Official Meetings

Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka on Friday, 31st January, 2020, held her matriculation for first year students with a call on them to shun lateness to lectures and other official engagements of the citadel of learning.

Declaring the 2019/2020 Matriculation open on behalf of the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Charles Esimone, at the Faculty of Social Sciences held at the Faculty’s Quadrangle, the Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. Rita Nnonyelum Ugokwe Joseph, said the University would not tolerate any indiscipline and mannerlessness on the part of the students, advising them to face their education, adding that it would enable the institution to get the best out of them.

Fides reports that this year’s matric was held in different faculties. In his address, the Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU), Awka, Prof. Charles Esimone, admonished the students to shun all manner of vices and face their studies squarely, emphasizing that any student caught misbehaving or violating the rules and regulations of the university would face disciplinary measures.

He assured the students of a robust and enabling environment, saying that the institution would not condone indolence, and recalcitrance.

The Vice Chancellor welcomed the fresh students with the regular programme for the 2019/2020 academic year.

He congratulated them for gaining admission into the University, saying that it was not easy for one to secure admission into a competitive university like UNIZIK.

Prof Esimone announced that the Varsity had three sets of hostels; University Hotel, ELMADA Hostel, and Catholic Hostel located at Amansea (Holy Family Youth Village) and advised the students to make use of the above hostels certified by the school.

For her part, the chairman of Dress Code Committee, Dr. Loyce Chiedozie Onyali, warned the newly admitted students against putting on indecent and obscene dresses on campus.

The chairman, Dress Code Committee, Nnamdi University, Awka, Dr. Loyce Chiedozie Onyali, gave the warning during the Orientation Programme organized for the fresh students of the institution, saying that whoever that violated the Dress Code Law would be severely dealt with.

Dr. Onyali stated that the institution would not condone any act of rascality and unseriousness from any student, admonishing them to take their studies seriously. She warned that any student found wanting would have the Dress Code Committee to contend with.

According to the chairman, the Dress Code Committee had representatives in different faculties and departments. He assured that the committee would intensify action in nipping in the bud, disobedient and unserious students.

Obiefuna, General Studies in the University system; Dr. Sunny Odinye (HoD Chinese Studies), Chinese: An Emerging world Language; Professor Ugokwe Ossai, Drug Use and Abuse, Its Complications, Prevention Techniques and Self-Management; Prof. Emma Okoye, The Place of God in Scholarship and Entrepreneurship for Wealth Creation delivered by Prof. Ngozi Anyika.
