Governor Chukwuma Soludo, has been commended for restoring transparency and due process in governance.

Speaking in Awka, an APGA chieftain, Chief Jude Emecheta, said the governor’s approach to governance was boosting people’s confidence in his administration.

Fides reports that Chief Emecheta noted that for the first time, recruitment into the state’s workforce was done through due process and merit, which, he said, provided opportunities for all interested applicants from all parts of the state to be part of the exercise.

He explained that such transparency and due process would impact positively on the socio-economic life of the state as it would attract more investors and promote ease of doing business.

He noted that Governor Soludo’s strategic and comprehensive approach towards tackling security challenges was gradually restoring conducive business environment across the state, while his urban renewal initiative at Okpoko, Ogbaru Council Area,

would have multiplier effects on other towns and provide permanent solutions to challenges of flooding and environmental degradation, adding that it would equally restore the status of Onitsha as the commercial heartbeat of Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa, urging residents of the state and traders to embrace the new refuse disposal plans of the state government to promote clean and healthy environment.

Chief Emecheta noted that the new revenue collection approach introduced by the governor would end diversion of government funds, discourage touting, as well as provide government with the needed revenue to meet its responsibilities to the people.

He expressed confidence that the steps initiated so far to reposition the state tourism industry would unlock the abundant potential in the sector, which, he said, had remained untapped for decades.
