. . . Vows to Descend on Offenders

The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Anambra State Command, Mr. Andrew Kumapayi, says the officers and men of the Command will embark on aggressive public enlightenment and enforcement of traffic rules and regulations this year to consolidate on the achievements it recorded last year, 2019.
Kumapayi, who disclosed this in Awka, also announced that the corps would continue with its collaboration with other sister agencies and security outfits across the state to achieve its set objectives for 2020.
He said that the rate of road crashes in 2019 reduced drastically compared to that of 2018, and commended motorists and other stakeholders in the transport sector for their support to and co-operation with the State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps which enabled it to achieve the feat.
He announced that officers and men of the Federal Road Safety Corps had been engaging in a twenty four-hour surveillance in different routes across the state, especially at the Upper Iweka and Bridgehead axis of Onitsha, to ensure the maintenance of free vehicular movement. He said the command had commenced what it called operation zero tolerance to autocrash on the highways.
Kumakpayi said that the purpose of the programme was to ensure that people reached their various destinations safely.
The State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps commended the Media in Anambra State for their support to the command which enabled them to record successes in their operations.
Mr Kumapayi equally commended Governor Willie Obiano for his support and encouragement to the agency through the provision of an enabling environment for them to work.
