In their continued effort to give back to the Church and society for their all-round and qualitative formation in the mission school, the SS 3 students of the famous Catholic Diocese of Awka-owned Tansi International College, Awka (TICA), Awka South L.G.A., Anambra State, on Saturday, June 29, 2018, took their community services to the Awka Diocesan Bishops’ and Priests’ Retirement Homes at GRA, Awka.
The students, who were led to the homes by the College Principal, Rev Fr Paul Onyebuchi II, joyfully swept, mopped, cobwebbed, cleaned and tidied up the apartments; cleared the drainage around the houses and cleared the garden and the compounds of weeds.
Speaking to Fides, Fr Onyebuchi II, thanked the director of the Old Priests’ Home, Rev Fr Adolphus Obi, for the opportunity gave to them to carry out the community services, and the items for refreshment, for work well done to them. He noted that the exercise was part of the College’s way of rendering selfless service to the Church and society at large.
The principal, who equally commended the students for their welcome disposition towards the services, appreciated the elderly priests for their word of admonition and prayers on the students.
The students, who interacted with the elderly priests, described the services and times shared with the priests as another worthwhile experience for them, saying that their interactions with them, were quite enriching.
