The Mgbachu Village Nkpor, has won the recently concluded Nkpor Inter-Village Football Competition sponsored by the Chief Godwin Nnamdi Amadike-led Nkpor Caretaker Committee, CTC.
The grand finale played at St. Alphonsus’s Catholic Church saw Mgbachu Team pip Ububa Uno Team to emerge the champions.
Presenting the cup and awards, the CTC chairman, Chief Godwin Amadike, congratulated the champions and applauded the runners up and other villages that participated in the tournament and encouraged others to join in the 2020 edition.
Chief Amadike who was represented by the Secretary, Nkpor Football Association NFA, Mr. Chukwuanu Sunday Okagbue, thanked God for the successful completion of the tournament and appreciated his Executive Committee members for the great work done.
He expressed gratitude to the executive members of the NFA, Ndi Nkpor, the new NDU Executive led by Chief Innocent Mbagha, the teams and their fans, the media, and the spectators.
He called on the new Nkpor Development Union Executive to upgrade and sustain the tournament
The Mgbachu team captain lifted the trophy presented on behalf of the CTC chairman, by the CTC Secretary, Mr. Ikenna Anikpe, while the Representative of the CTC chairman, Chief Godwin Nnamdi Amadike, represented on the final ceremony by Mr. Chukwuanu Sunday Okagbue, handed over the cash prize money of N200, 000 to the champions amidst jubilation and shouts of joy from all present.
Other prize monies included:
Second Position, Ububa Uno Team – N100, 000.00, third Position; Amafor Uno Team – N50, 000. 00, fourth Position; Umusiome Team- N30, 000.00. Consolation Prize to Isingwu Village Team – N10, 000.00.
Individual Awards:
Highest Goal Scorer, the duo of Onwukwe Ikechukwu (Mgbachu) and Ogechukwu Ejikeme (Umusiome) – N10, 000.00; Most Valuable Player, Anthony Muoghalu (Mgbachu)- N5, 000.00; Best Keeper, Chidiebele Iloka (Mgbachu) – N5, 000.00; Most Disciplined Team, Isingwu Team – N15, 000.00
