Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo, has been commended for launching the state on course of a digital economy.
Speaking in Awka, an All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Chieftain, Chief Jude Emecheta, said it would accelerate the overall development of the state.
Chief Emecheta noted that creating a digital structure to drive tax administration and revenue collection would entrench transparency and accountability and encourage more people to pay their taxes and levies regularly and promptly.
He said it would also eliminate diversion of government revenue to private pockets and enable government to generate funds to carry out its responsibilities to the people, as well as promote ease of doing business which would attract more investors and businesses to the state.
According to Chief Emecheta, verification and enumeration of commercial vehicle operators and traders would enable the state government to maintain effective data base that would further fortify the state security infrastructure, as well as give drivers and traders a sense of responsibility to take ownership of their activities to curb excesses.
He said this would also end the menace of touting and nuisance in motor parks and promote sanity on roads, while transporters would have a better environment to generate more income.
