Soludo Support Groups have berthed in tertiary institutions across Anambra State. This followed their inauguration, Friday, July 16, at The Destination Garden, Awka, by Mr Chinedu Nwoye, chairman of All Soludo Support Groups, ASSG, reports Jude Atupulazi.

Fides reports that those inaugurated included students and some of their lecturers, as well as members of staff of the institutions.

Speaking before inaugurating them, the chairman of ASSG, Nwoye, said it became necessary to merge all groups in support of Prof Chukwuma Soludo into one. Soludo is the gubernatorial aspirant of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, for the November 6, 2021 election.

Nwoye however explained that despite the merger, the various groups could still carry out their different activities, but should be mindful that they now stayed under a central body controlled by him, Nwoye.

Describing Soludo as having the qualities needed to transform Anambra State, Nwoye urged the students to learn the spirit of resilience from Soludo by not surrendering to problems but rising up to confront and conquer their challenges.

He recalled how he himself had personally overcome his own challenges while in school and told the students that they could do same.

After inaugurating them, he charged them to work assiduously towards marketing the candidature of Soludo on their various campuses.

Earlier, while addressing the students and members of staff of the schools, the convener, Prof Arinze Chinweuba, hailed Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, for not just doing well, but for putting forward someone that could surpass his own achievements in the person of Soludo.

Arinze described Soludo as an icon that should be celebrated as was the practice in other places.

He expressed confidence in the ability of Soludo to meet expectations, even as he urged the audience not to be downcast by the news of the removal of Soludo’s name from the list of guber candidates published that day by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC; assuring that the problem would soon be rectified.

One of those inaugurated, Mr Okagbue Chukwuanu, said the inclusion of the academia and students in the scheme of things by the Soludo Team was a welcome development, noting that it was a time for positive action.

‘The inauguration is a call to deliver on the mandate which is to enthrone good, people-oriented governance and ensure continuity by the mercy and grace of God, as well as believing that the education sector and other sectors of the economy will keep illuminating in the Light of the Nation,’ Chukwuanu stated.

The schools which attended the inauguration included Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka; Federal Polytechnic, Oko; Anambra State Polytechnic, Mgbakwu; Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam; Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe; and Federal College of Education (Tech) Umunze.
