It was all colours of love last Saturday, 17 June 2023, as the Catechist of St Kevin’s Parish, Nimo, Mr Osondu Onyekwelu, tied the nuptial knot with his long time heartthrob, former Miss Chinwe Anatuanya; a kid sister to Rev. Fr. Gregory Anatuanya and Rev. Sr. Emmanuella Anatuanya. Until tying the nuptial knot, the couple had been active members of St. Kevin’s Parish, Nimo. While Osondu grew to become the Parish Catechist, Chinwe has always been a member of the Parish Choir, Lectors, and Mary League Girls’ Association.
The marriage celebration which took place at the dedicated parish church, expectedly attracted hosts of priests, religious and lay faithful within and outside the parish and Nimo Town. The highly concelebrated sung Wedding Mass which had in attendance the Episcopal Vicar of Nimo Region, Very Rev. Fr. Shedrach Anunwa; Msgr JPC Ikegbusi; and many other priests; was ably chaired by Very Rev. Fr. Jonas Unegbu (Dean Awgbu Deanery and 2nd Parish Priest of St Kevin’s Parish) and flanked by Rev. Fr. Dr. Robert Anagboso, (Director of Fides Media), and Rev. Fr. Calistus Nwogu.
Speaking during his homily, Rev. Fr. Nicholas Okosa of the Archdiocese of Onitsha, enjoined the couple to maintain the community of life they were starting through daily communication and communion between each other, on one hand, and between them as a couple and God, on the other hand. After the homily, the Parish Priest, Very Rev. Fr. Mac Ben Okeke, received and blessed the marital consent of the couple amid joyous claps and cheers from the congregation.
At the close of the Holy Mass, the couple, beaming with smiles, gratefully thanked and appreciated the entire congregation for their presence and support to them. They prayed God to bless and lead everyone safely and soundly back to their various destinations.
