St. Camillus de Lellis Chaplaincy holds Thanksgiving Mass for Finalists

St. Camillus de Lellis Chaplaincy, Maryland, College of Health Sciences, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Okofia, Nnewi Campus, Nnewi has held thanksgiving Mass for over one hundred Final year students of the Chaplaincy. The thanksgiving Mass for “De Triunfadores” was held last Sunday, 20 February 2022, at the University auditorium, Okofia, Nnewi.

In his homily during the Mass, Rev Fr Dr Martin Anusi,harped on the need to love God through love for humanity. He explained that one was  in the fullness of their capacity in God, he said, “You are fully a child of God when you have given every thing in you, to God”. He further stated that there was  a distinction between self love and self centeredness. Self love, he said,  was for discovery and development and self centeredness was for self gratification.

Fr Anusi harped on the need for  human capacity development. He urged the students to use every opportunity they had to harness and discover their talents and gifts. “Human capacity development begins from self love”, he emphasized

Quoting Paul’s letter to Philippian 4:8 he encouraged them to cultivate  everything that was good, wonderful, honourable, praiseworthy and lovable. He noted that young people should use all digital knowledge to access their goals.

Explaining that if they do not develop their God’s given gifts, they were bound to abuse them. He encouraged them not to be afraid of the world but conquer the world positively.

For his part the Chaplain, Rev Fr Jude Chukwuneke, congratulated the Final Year students as he wished them well in their various pursuits.

Some students who spoke to Fides expressed their mixed feelings about leaving the university. They recounted their tough times and the opportunities that the Chaplaincy’s life and spirituality availed them to develop their talents and growth. They expressed their gratitude to the Chaplain, Rev. Fr Chetanna Chukwuneke for his mentorship, human and structural development, and wholesome formation that have become the trademark of the Chaplaincy . They told Fides that their stories at the Chaplaincy were those of growth, resourceful development and impressive spirituality.
