Governor ChukwumaSoludo of Anambra State has commended residents of Fegge in Onitsha for their intervention in waste evacuation in the area.
Speaking while monitoring level of compliance in waste evacuation by Landlords of the area, Governor Soludo, who spoke through the State Commissioner for Environment, Engineer Felix Odimegwu, expressed satisfaction with commitment of stakeholders in the area.
He encouraged others, including communities, estates, residents and town unions to rise to the occasion by taking ownership of their environment.
The Governor frowned at the attitude of people, especially residents who do not abide by the State Government’s directives, which include bagging of waste and monitoring evacuation.
Governor Soludo assured residents of the area that the State Ministry of Environment, through communities, will introduce marshals to man strategic sites as a way of addressing indiscriminate dumping of refuse in various parts of the State.
He commended the allenge of flooding in the area.
