Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, is currently embarking on strategic reconstruction, renovation and beautification of the various local government area headquarters in the state.
At Nnewi South Local Government Area Headquarters in Ukpor, the present administration, through the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, has perfected the reconstruction, renovation and beautification of the environment.
It will be recalled that while the onslaught by non-state actors held sway in the location, the local government area came under attack and was destroyed to the extent that it became uninhabitable, causing the workers to relocate to neighbouring Nnewi North Council Area where they operated from a make-shift structure.
But owing to the efforts of the current state government of Governor Soludo, the local government headquarters is now a beehive of activities as security operatives now secure the location.
According to the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Mr. Tony-Collins Nwabunwanne, the current administration under Governor Soludo was unrelenting in carrying out efforts in all facets of development.
‘We understand that peace and progress are two inseparable entities, and so, we took peace and harmony to community leaderships.
‘We have as well introduced rural development which has immensely benefitted the people, irrespective of social, religious or political inclination,’ the Commissioner added.
