…. As Igwe Mbaukwu Weds Hearthrob

Francis Cardinal Arinze has charged all Christians to desist from polygamous lifestyle.
This was coming as the Catholic Cardinal graced the wedding of H.R.M Igwe Peter Nwokike Anugwu, the traditional ruler of Mbaukwu, and His heartthrob, Mrs Virginia Chinyere Anugwu, nee Eze, on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at St Domini’s Catholic Church, Mbaukwu, Awka South LGA, Anambra State.
In a homily, Cardinal Arinze urged Christians to refrain from the traditional mindset of having more than one wife as obtained in the past due to absence of Christianity.
He reminded the congregation that marriage was for one man, one woman; not any other way round.
Drawing from the book of Genesis, Cardinal Arinze observed that if God had wanted a man to marry more than one wife, He could have made provision of more than one woman for Adam.
He advised those about to go into marriage never to deviate from the biblical proclamation of one man, one woman, even as he also enjoined everyone to live a Christ-like life.
The epoch making event was attended by the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev Paulinus Ezeokafor; Rev Fathers; high profile personalities, traditional rulers, among whom were the traditional ruler of Nibo, Eze Michael Ngene, Ezike and Igwe Joel Egwuonwu, The traditional ruler of Umuawulu.
Eze Ngene, in his votes of thanks, appreciated everyone who joined in the ceremony he described as the royal wedding of the century and prayed to God for journey mercies.
