The Parish Priest, St Joseph’s Catholic Church, Umuawulu, Awka South Local Government Area, Anambra State, Rev Fr Benjamin Odika, has expressed regret at the level of greed displayed by party members once election was around the corner.
He asked electorate to shun greed to be able to elect better candidates as party standard bearers for the main election.
Rev Fr Odika stated this at Umuawulu during a reception organized by High Chief Dr Azubuike Ekweozor in honour of the State Chief Protocol Officer and Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Soludo, Hon Chinedu Nwoye.
The Roman Catholic Cleric maintained that society had experienced bad representation because they failed to vote according to their conscience but instead focused on temporary gains from aspirants, hence making it difficult for eligible contestants to scale through.
Rev Fr Odika cautioned Ide campaign stakeholders never to relent in canvassing for a greed-free primary election and to also be steadfast in pursuing the goals that would ensure that Ide Umuawulu got the ticket of APGA in the primary election because he had been tested and confirmed a worthy ambassador of Christ and his people.
He said, ‘If you are for Ide, be for him; stop putting your leg here and there. Ide is that man that will bring that over emphasized dividends of democracy to his people.’
He said his calling and vocation did not need him to support an aspirant but noted that for Ide Umuawulu, everyone was in solidarity with his mission to represent Awka North and South Federal constituency.
Rev Fr Odika had earlier described Hon Nwoye as a good orator who through his speech could be ascribed as a truthful man and not the usual politician.
The Director General, Ide Umuawulu Campaign Organization, and Crown Prince of Okpuno Kingdom, Hon Prince Chinedu Okafor, reassured that his team would deliver Ide Umuawulu as they would not let anyone deviate from the aim of the campaign organization to other fantasies.
