The Manager of St Patrick’s College, Awka, Rev Fr Celestine Anaekwe, has narrated how the former Governor of Anambra State and former Vice Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Mr Peter Obi, through his educational investment in their institution, helped it to achieve more academic exploits and global success.

Fr Anaekwe told of how Obi, desirous of more qualitative education and better future for children, paid a surprise visit to their school in January, 2020, and donated laptop computers, printers and generator set worth, millions of Naira, for their academic growth.

The Manager confirmed that with Obi’s kind investment, ‘the door to another level of glory was unlocked’.

In his words, ‘The laptop computers and other ICT facilities donated by Mr Peter Obi gave our students the platform for greatness.  The amenities enabled them to prepare and participate in this year’s National Online Interswitchspak Science Competition, one of the biggest national competitions in Nigeria.

‘In the first round of the Interswitchspak preliminaries, two of our students, Chukwuemeka Douglas Kosiso and Nwafor Ebube MaryCynthia, beat other students, qualified and were named among the top best 500 science students in Nigeria. While in the second round, two of them again won, qualified and were once again among the best top 80 science students in Nigeria.

‘Again, in this year’s 2021 Cruxlearning National Online Mathematics Competition Round Two, our student, Paul Ariyo, also qualified and was among the top best 500 mathematics students in Nigeria. What a feat!  And on 7th August, 2021 they were in the air heading to Lagos for the T.V. Quiz Show.

‘With Mr. Peter Obi’s computer magic wand, we made history in Anambra, being the only school which produced two students out of the five students that came from Anambra State in the 2021 National Interswitchspak Science Competition. History was made in the lives of these kids, who, through the magic wand of Mr. Peter Obi’s computers, were sold to the nation,’ he gushed.

Fr Anaekwe appreciated Obi for what he described as his relentless support and investment in the education sector, stating that it was Obi who revolutionized the education sector in Anambra State.
