ROTARY Club of Onitsha Royal in District 9142, Rotary International, led by the Synergiser President, Rotarian Floral Mbaeli, in collaboration with Rotaract Club of Federal Polytenic Oko, Atani Campus, have recently visited indegent pupils of Central School, Atani, in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State to carryout literacy and basic education projects in the school.
Rotarian Floral Mbaeli, who was accompanied by the Assistant Governor of Zone 15, Rotarian George Amobi alongside other club members and Rotaractors of Federal Polytenic Oko, Atani Campus, paid a courtesy visit to the palace of the traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Augustine Ngoddy who was decorated with the theme pin ‘Imagine Rotary’ by the president.
The team further went to the school where donation of exercise books, textbooks, school uniforms and school bags were made to over two 200 indigent pupils, even as Rotarian George Amobi also gave scholarship of one year worth N15,000 only per child, to six pupils, who correctly answered questions in a quiz competition conducted during the exercise.
Beneficiaries of the scholarship include Epunam Chiemezuo in primary 5; Olisa Frank, primary 3; Anieluta Emmanuel and Ifeacho Ebuka, primary 2; Esimai Chioma and Arinze Mmasi primary 4.
While expressing their appreciation, the Head teacher of the school, Olisa Francisca, on behalf of the management, thanked Rotarians for changing the narrative and putting smiles on the faces of the school children who further made presentation of drama and Rotary songs to Rotarians.
