…Avoid bad company; change the world with your behaviour, Bishop Okoye advises new, outgoing students

It was a plethora of events at Rosa Mystica High School Agulu, Anaocha L.G.A, on Thursday, 17th December, 2020 as the institution celebrated her investiture, opening of new academic year, sendoff party, and award giving day and Christmas party.

Leading in the concelebrated Mass to begin the event, the Auxiliary Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Jonas Benson Okoye in his homily, noted that school management has a great impact to play in the quest to produce good students. He tasked the Rosa Mystica School management to make sure that their new students never lacked anything they needed to make a good name in the world. The prelate reminded them that it is the hand they give them now that they will grow with in their entire life.  Therefore, they should handle the new students with care.

In his advice to the new students, Bishop Okoye warned them to be obedient to everyone around them and shun bad company if there was any in the school. He reminded the outgoing students, who graduated that day, to be of good character, disciplined, and respectful as they faced the world.

‘You have the school image which is Awka Diocese, therefore, you must protect it. You must be of good character in the various universities you will attend, and continue with the good deeds Rosa Mystica impacted on you. Do not join cultism and others alike to avoid “if I had known”. And for you girls, don’t start what you can’t finish, to avoid the stories that touch the heart’ the bishop concluded.

The school manager, Rev. Fr. Christopher JMC Ezeonu, in his vote of thanks appreciated the mass celebrants, His Lordship most Rev. Dr. Jonas Benson Okoye, the diocesan Chancellor Rev Fr Francis Chidume, school managers from different schools, education secretaries, deans, Rev Srs, teachers, PTA, among others. He thanked his assistant; Rev. Fr. Henry Oduenyi whom he said has been his back bone all these while. He asked God to continue blessing him in his vineyard.
