Rev. Father Isaac Agabi Escapes From Kidnappers’ Den In Edo

A Catholic Priest, Rev. Fr. Isaac Agabi, who was kidnapped on Sunday by armed Fulani herdsmen in Edo State, has escaped his abductors, Fides reports.

It will be recalled that Agabi was kidnapped along Auchi-Igarra road at about 5.00 pm, while on his way back to the parish.

Agabi is the Rev. Fr. in charge of Holy Name Catholic Church, Ikpeshi, in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State.

Fides gathered that the Fr. Agabi escaped from his abductors in the early hours of Tuesday, June 18, 2019, barely 48 hours after he was kidnapped.

The Director of Communication of the Holy Name Catholic Church, Fr. Peter Egielewa, who confirmed the development, said no ransom was paid to secure the release of Rev. Fr. Agabi.

He said the Fr. Agabi escaped from his abductors when they slept off in the night.
