The chairman commended Obi for what he described as his outstanding administrative acumen and leadership qualities, expected of an ideal leader.
Meanwhile, Sir Peter Obi, CON, while speaking at the event, called on all Nigerians to pray for Nigeria, which according to him was currently facing difficult situations.
The former Executive Governor of Anambra State, who also maintained the need for public funds to be used for public good said to all Nigerians, ‘Our country is going through a difficult time. Please pray always for Nigeria. Pray also for Nigerian politicians, and encourage them to use the public fund for public good. The public fund does not belong to an individual, but to the public, and it must be used for public good’.
Unveiling the CCR, Awka Diocese Anniversary Book titled: The Seed of Faith: The Catholic Charismatic Renewal in Awka Diocese at 40, Obi charged all, especially the youths to embrace education and reading culture, saying that good readership makes good leaders.
Earlier in his remarks, the chairman of the occasion, Dr Hygers Ifeanyichukwu Igwebuike, described the 40th Anniversary as a celebration of remarkable years with success stories and challenges.
Dr Igwebuike commended the CCR, Awka Diocese for her remarkable growths, especially in the establishment of AUSTICA Memorial College, Nanka. He called for the need for a girls’ college, for the proper formation of the girls alongside the boys in AUSTICA College.
He however advised the renewal against total concentration in building physical structures only, saying that the primary mission of the renewal had been building of souls through evangelisation.
Igwebuike prayed God to restore the spirit of commitment to heavenly inheritance among all faithful, and charged the CCRN to partner with the priests in poor parishes for easier apostolate as well as work on bettering the livelihood of the poorest of the poor in society.
