Real JAMB Best Candidate Gets Scholarship from Soludo

Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, has offered a university scholarship to Miss Nkechinyere Umeh, an Anambra State student that emerged the highest scorer with a cumulative mark of 360 in the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME).

Umeh’s scholarship comes in the wake of the controversy surrounding the emergence of another Anambra Student, Miss Mmesomma Ejikeme, whose claim to be the best student with a cumulative of 362 was quashed by JAMB.

JAMB quashed Mmesomma’s claim as Soludo was on the verge of celebrating her feat and offering her a scholarship. Motor giant, INNOSON, which offered her a scholarship, had to withdraw it after JAMB proved that Mmesomma falsified her result, even as she owned up to doing so.

The quashing of Mmesomma’s result paved the way for Miss Umeh to emerge as the true best student in UTME.

Soludo, while congratulating Miss Umeh for doing the state proud, announced a scholarship for her to study any course of her choice but at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University in Anambra State. Umeh is a student of Deeper Life High School, Mowe in Ogun State.

A press statement signed by Chris Aburime, Press Secretary to Soludo, said the scholarship to Miss Umeh would not only serve as a token of the state government’s appreciation for her hard work but also provide her with the opportunity to pursue her dreams and contribute to the development of the state in the future.

While wishing Miss Umeh continued success in her future academic pursuits, Governor Soludo also encouraged other young Anambra students within the state and across the nation to take inspiration from Umeh’s outstanding performance and take advantage of the improved conducive learning environment in Anambra State to strive for excellence.
