The Who is Who in Anambra State and beyond last Sunday, gathered at Egbengwu Village, Nimo, country home of Hon. Dr. Pete Ibida KSJI, member representing Njikoka II State Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, for the 2nd Term Episcopal Inaugural Thanksgiving Mass organized in his honour.
The event which started with a Concelebrated Eucharistic Celebration presided over by His Lordship, Most Rev. Dr. Peter Eberechukwu Okpalaeke, had people from all walks of life in attendance, notable among whom were the Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Nkem Okeke; the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Ozonkpu (Dr.) Victor Ike Oye; the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu; the Anambra State Chief of Staff, Hon. Primus Odili; Head of Service, Barr. Harry Udu; the Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Uche Victor Okafor; member representing Idemili North/South in the House of Representatives, Hon. Ibezi Ifeanyichukwu; the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Dr. Agbodike Paschal Arinze; the Majority Leader, Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. (Pharm.) Dr. G Nnamdi Okafor; Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Chief Emeka Aforka; among others
An exuberant Ibida who danced to the altar in company of his colleagues and family members to offer thanks to the Lord, said the Thanksgiving Mass was in line with his policy of giving thanks to God at all times and in appreciation of God’s blessings to his family.
In his homily, Bishop Okpalaeke ascribed the re-election victory of Dr. Ibida to the Mercy of God upon his life. The Catholic Prelate enjoined the Seventh Anambra State House of Assembly to work for the common good of the people, which, he noted, was the reason their constituents found them worthy to represent them. He reminded them that every man would give an account of his stewardship before God.
In a vote of thanks, the celebrant, Dr. Ibida explained that his Thanksgiving Mass was to thank God who made it possible for him to perform exceedingly well as a legislator in the last four years and to dedicate his second term mandate to God.
Hon. Ibida who used the Thanksgiving Mass to dedicate his second term victory to God, assured the people of Njikoka Two Constituency that he would surpass his previous achievements in the next four years that he would represent them at the State House of Assembly.
In an interview, the Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Uche Victor Okafor, who participated in the Thanksgiving Mass, thanked Ndi Anambra for voting APGA overwhelmingly in the just concluded State Constituency election, assuring that the Seventh Assembly would justify the confidence reposed in them.
Also speaking the Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dr. Pascal Agbodike, described Ibida as an astute and seasoned administrator cum politician, noting that his presence in the Seventh Assembly would add colour to the legislative duties.
In their separate remarks, the Majority Leader of Anambra State House of Assembly and member representing Awka South I, Rt. Hon. Dr. (Pharm.) G. Nnamdi Okafor; Deputy Majority Leader and member representing Orumba North State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Emeka Aforka; the Deputy Minority Leader and member representing Anaocha I State Constituency and the immediate past member representing Anaocha II, Hon. Engr. Charles Ezeani, described Dr. Ibida as a humble, courageous, and God fearing leader who had impacted lives positively.
The event was also attended by other government officials.
