The Initiator and Convener of World Igbo Summit, Prof Gregory Ibe, has felicitated the 21st Monarch of Onitsha Ancient Kingdom and Chairman of South East Council of Monarchs, Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe, on the commemoration of his 82nd Birthday.

Conveying his wishes to the first class monarch through a goodwill message, Prof Ibe congratulated Obi Achebe for, according to him, being an epitome of unity for the revered traditional institution and apex custodian of the sacred Igbo mythology since his emergence on the throne 21 years ago.

Prof Ibe used the occasion of Obi Achebe’s 82nd Birthday to highlight the numerous royal contributions of the sage to the entire South East Region, especially as a major resource person at the annual World Igbo Summit, and prayed God to strengthen him for more years of stewardship to the people.

According to Prof¬† Ibe, ‘It is in the spirit of according respect and due honour to the deserving that I want to join others in celebrating our father and mentor, Igwe Alfred Achebe, the Obi of Onitsha and Chairman of South East Traditional Rulers Council, as he attains the milestone age of 82 years.’

Continuing, he said, ‘Since emerging as Obi of Onitsha 21 years ago, Igwe Achebe has been a source of blessing to the entire South East Region, a position which he has continued to leverage to epitomize unity, trust and inspiring leadership, while playing the role of the apex custodian of our sacred Igbo Mythology.’

Highlighting some of the contributions of Igwe Achebe, Prof Ibe said, ‘Worthy of mention is the auspicious fatherly role Igwe Achebe has sacrificially played for the South East Region, especially on the platform of our annual World Igbo Summit, where I have personally received unparalleled partnership and unwavering support from the revered octogenarian. It is therefore my prayer that God continues to keep him alive for us and grant him wisdom, vigour and vitality to do more valiantly,’ the message concluded.
