The indigenous people of Biafra, IPOB says it will not rescind its decision to boycott the forthcoming general elections, rather, it is making arrangements to change tactics to ensure that it achieves total boycott of the election in the Southeast Zone.
In a press release by the media and publicity secretary of IPOB, Emma Powerful, the group said the decision of election boycott in Igbo land was to showcase its readiness, determination and seriousness in the pursuit for Biafra's freedom and sovereignty.
He said it was important that they notified their people, mostly politicians, clergymen and women, including pastors, who strongly believed in rebuilding One Nigeria to retrace their steps because Nigeria's Government and its leadership had been hijacked by Fulani people.
Powerful said, 'Our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, during his weekly radio Biafra broadcast from the holy land of Israel on Saturday evening, reaffirmed strongly to the people and gullible Nigerians who still doubted our stand towards boycotting the forthcoming presidential election next month.
'It is crystal clear that one of our major lethal weapons to achieve this present Biafra demand is civil disobedience, therefore we urge Biafrans, both home and abroad, to advise and caution their families not to vote and totally boycott this coming election, no matter the level of promises and inducement politicians of this day might have given them.
'In few days to come IPOB high command will release a blueprint and how this election boycott will be achieved and it's benefit to Biafrans. IPOB will evoke a high level of civil disobedience next month to make it effective so that Biafrans will realize how much determined we are,' he said.
The group accused the Federal Government, Southeast governors, mostly Okezie Ikpeazu, David Umahi and Willie Obiano, including Ohaneze Ndigbo led by Nnia Nwodo, of conspiring and inviting soldiers to the zone for ''Operation Python Dance'' to frighten the people to trigger panic, apprehension and fear in the minds of Biafrans who believed in Biafra restoration project.
IPOB said it would deploy all the machineries in its arsenal to ensure that the duo of Governors Okezie Ikpeazu and David Umahi of Abia and Ebonyi States were roundly defeated in their states because of their anti Igbo posture.
'Okezie Ikpeazu and David Umahi, who unknown to most people, have donated a portion of our sacred land of Biafra to Miyetti Allah, cannot support ''Operation Python Dance'' and expect the people not to revolt accordingly. IPOB is at the front of this coming revolution next month,' he said.
The regent of Oba Community in Idemili North Local Government Area, Chief Noel Ezenwa, has said his community will not adhere to calls by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, to boycott next month's presidential election.
Ezenwa said politics played a pivotal role in the life of Nigerians, and that every eligible Nigerian should participate in the election as their fate would henceforth be entrusted in the hands of those voted to power during the election.
Speaking in his palace, while welcoming the senatorial candidate of one of the parties, the regent said those making such call were ignorant.
He said, 'We must be around to make this critical decision of who to vote. Politics is very pivotal to who rules us, and we must endeavour to vote on that day.
'Whoever is doing Python Dance or snake dance or those who want a new country can leave us. Let us make the Decision of who will rule us. I urge all my subjects to go and vote, we will not boycott the process,' he said.
