The Special Adviser to Governor Willie Obiano on Special Duties and Continuous Voter Education (CVR), Dr. Amaka Akudo, recently visited the Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU) Women's Wing at ASATU Secretariat, Government House, Awka.
Akudo, during the visit, explained to the womenfolk the importance of the voter card and why they should all join in the crusade.
She appealed to community heads to continue to sensitize and mobilise their subjects in their various communities on the need for prompt voter registration of eligible voters and collection of PVCs thereafter.
The special Adviser called on Anambra women to take their civic responsibility seriously.
She urged them to take the message down to their various communities and to join in the sensitization of the on going registration and collection of voter cards across the state.
'Currently, Anambra is performing high on voter registration and collection, but comparatively low in the overall performance of the number of eligible voters among other states,' Akudo stated.
The National President of ASATU Women's Wing, Dr. Chinelo Okechukwu, officially declared the stakeholders meeting open with other 179 community PGs in attendance.
She commended the Special Adviser, noting that they (PGs) were happy to have her in their midst, even as she assured her of their maximum support and cooperation.
The Special Adviser's train moved to Onitsha where she addressed thousands of market traders on the need to get registered.
