Police Displeased With False  Security Report in Anambra

By Ikeugonna Eleke

The Anambra State Police Command has expressed unhappiness over recent reports of insecurity in the state, saying they help to heighten the tension in the state.

The spokesperson of the Command, Mr Tochukwu Ikenga, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, who disclosed this, said police and other security agencies in the state had intensified patrol in the state, insisting there was no need for panic.

Ikenga decried what he described as the mischievous act of persons sharing false security alerts/messages, and doctored old videos of security incidents to cause tension/panic in the state.

‘The police with other security forces have intensified patrols, improved security dominance and surveillance in the state.

‘The Command has noted the confidence reposed on us by Ndi Anambra in the protection of life and property and shall not take it for granted,’ he said.

Meanwhile, the Command said it would invoke relevant cyber laws on persons found wanting in the dissemination of false information.
