An Agulu born Abakaliki Diocesan Catholic Priest and Chaplain of Our Lady Health of the Sick Chaplaincy, Federal Teaching Hospital Abakiliki (FETHA I & II), Rev. Fr. Dr John Chidi Obasi, disclosed recently that God's Love and Grace had been his source of sustenance throughout his priestly vocation.
Fr. Obasi revealed this during the celebration of his Priestly Silver Jubilee Anniversary held at Our Lady Health of the Sick Chaplaincy, Abakaliki on Saturday 21st September 2019, where he said that his apostolate was geared by his love for God and humanity. 'The Catholic priesthood has helped me experience and enjoy the love of God' he said.
The priest, who said he was very happy over his 25th priestly anniversary, observed that his trust in God had filled him with the grace with which he disposed himself to the priestly assignments he was given. He thanked God for his love, gift of life and success of the anniversary celebration.
Fr Obasi, who was obviously elated with the number of people who attended the event thanked all who esteemed the event with their presence and those who had inspired him even from his early days.
Speaking during the homily at the concelebrated Holy Mass that preceded the event, Rev Dr. Peter Chukwu, while explaining the missionary impacts of the jubilarian, noted that Fr. Obasi had been a gentle, humble and quiet philanthropist who had touched the lives of priests, lay faithful both the sick and indigent alike without blowing his trumpet.
He went further to acknowledge that the celebrant was a seed that yielded good fruits which attracted him the title Osisioma N'ami Mkpuruoma by the FETHA 1 Chaplaincy, while he advised christians to toe the exemplary path of the celebrant to better humanity.
The event was spiced up with special song renditions from: the Church Choir, Old Boys of St. Augustine Seminary, Abakaliki and another from Brother Peter E. Okey who composed a song on the life and experiences of the celebrant.
