YCS Diary: Awka Diocese Hosts Provincial Convention

. . . Awka Diocesan Convention Holds July 29-Aug 3, 2019 at Tansi College Okpuno,Awka

It was a gathering of a kind, as Young Catholic Students (YCS) Awka Diocese, hosted her counterparts from the entire Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province at Awka. The event held at St John of God Secondary School Awka, from April 23rd to 27th, 2019.

It was the YCS Annual Convention. Holy Masses,talks, lectures, conferences, workshop, interactions and social events marked the programme. Rev Fr Polycarp Okoye gave a lecture on “ Post Synodal Apostolic Exhortation of Pope Francis ' Christus Vivit'…Christ is alive. Fr Maximus Muojeke spoke on the theme “Building Leadership Confidence among Youths with YCS Methodology of See, Judge and Act”. Then Fr Bartholomew Ezeokafor addressed YCSers on the topic “ Fighting the Scourge of Corruption in Nigeria”.

A visiting YCS Chaplain of Aba Diocese, Rev Fr Kenneth Amanze, National Coordinator; Uchenna Nnebe, former National President/Secretary Planning Committee; Emmanuel Azowue(Port Harcourt Diocese), and Vianney Chikwe of Owerri Archdiocese, came for sensitization for 60 Years Anniversary of YCS in Nigeria, to be celebrated in grand style at Owerri, from 5th to 10th August, 2019.

In attendance were YCS from the Onitsha Provincial Dioceses and their chaplains. (Frs Jude Ozumba, Provincial/Awka Chaplain, Michael Udebuani (Nnewi) among others. The Awka Diocesan Convention comes up at Tansi International College (Okpuno) Awka(TICA), July 29 to August 3, 2019, with celebration of 60th YCS Anniversary on August 1st, with Bishop’s Mass at 10am at the College premises.
