St Joseph's Parish UNIZIK Temp Site Awka Gets 1st Parish Council

The parish priest, St Joseph's Parish, Awka (UNIZIK Temp Site), Rev. Fr. Created a Catholic Chaplaincy in 1983, and raised to a parish in October 2018, St Joseph's Catholic Parish, UNIZIK Temporary Site, Awka, Anambra State, on Sunday, March 31, 2019, inaugurated , a pioneer Parish Pastoral Council, to pilot the affairs of the parish for the next four years.

The parish pastoral council, which had the parish priest, Rev. Fr. Nnaemeka Ezeokeke as the chairman; Chief Hon. Law Chinwuba as the 1st Vice Chairman; Hon. Tony Ezenwaka as the 2nd vice chairman and Uche Ezenwile as the secretary, would serve for a single tenure of four years in line with the Catholic Bishops of Nigeria Conference's (CBCN's) directive.

Other parish councilors were Prof. Leonard Muoghalu and Mr. Francis Ezenwaka. They also included the heads of the parish Catholic Men's Organisation, the parish Catholic Women's Organisation (C.W.O), the parish Young Catholic Professional (YCP), the parish choir and the Nigerian Federation of Catholic Students (NFCS), among others.

While administering the oath of allegiance and office on the pastoral councilors, the parish priest, Rev. Fr. Ezeokeke, enjoined them and others in various positions of the Church, to put in their best in service to God and the Church.

He announced that subsequently, the same process through which the parish councilors were sworn-in, would be extended to the C.M.O, C.W.O. YCP, and other groups of the Church so as to instil into the leaders the spirit of service expected of them in the positions they occupied as Church leaders.
