St Dominic Savio Seminary Akpu, Orumba South L.G.A Anambra State has on Saturday 30th March, 2019, celebrated her annual feast day. The event doubled as fund raising and award of prizes to students who distinguished themselves in academy excellence and moral behavior.

Leading in the concelebrated Holy Mass, the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev Paulinus Ezeokafor, stated that education formation in seminary and other mission schools would help steady the conscience that would help the students. He maintained that all who attended seminary schools would not become priests, saying that formation in the seminary would help nurture the students to be better and useful to themselves in future. Bishop Ezeokafor noted that his main target was the usefulness of all the children to be useful, noting that it's the responsibilities of the parents to bring up their children in a Godly way. He charged the students to be disciplined in all they do, and advised the teachers not to shy away from their responsibility, describing them as essential tools for learning. He commended the rector, Rev Fr Linus Ibekwe for his tireless efforts and then, charged all to contribute towards the roofing of father's house, office and for the purchase of a truck for the school use. He appreciated all who had been contributing towards the school welfare. He admonished those who made promises but failed to fulfill their promises.

In his vote of thanks, the rector, Rev Fr Linus Ibekwe thanked the Catholic Bishop of Awka, Most Rev Paulinus Ezeokafor for his fatherly love and encouragement towards the students. He appreciated all who left their tight schedules to celebrate with them and prayed God to visit them in times of need.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the occasion, Mr. Chinedu Enemuo thanked Bishop Ezeokafor for his good work in the diocese. He also commended Fr Ibekwe for his efforts in piloting the affairs of the seminary. He advised all to contribute towards the roofing of the Father's house and the purchasing of a truck for the school use. He advised the students to be focused and determined, saying that education is the key to success.

In an address of welcome presented by the rector, Fr Ibekwe stated that there are people who give special assistance to the seminary and he expressed his gratitude to them. Fr Ibekwe commended those who had contributed in so many ways to the seminary both through food items, drugs and other materials and prayed for Gods favour upon them. He maintained that the seminary needs a new truck, roofing of the Father's house and office for the smooth running of the seminary.
