…As Sr.Lucy Anusi takes her Final Profession.

The atmosphere at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Okpaugwu, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, was filled with joy and thanksgiving to God as the Catholic Diocese held the first religious profession of 13 Rev. Sisters, 4 final professed and a silver jubilarian from the Congregation of Jesus the Good Shepherd on Saturday, 11th August 2018.
The concelebrated Eucharistic Mass which attracted Priests, Religious and Catholic faithful from Abakaliki Diocese and beyond was presided over by the Catholic Bishop of Abakaliki Diocese, His Lordship, Most Rev Michael N. Okoro.
The congregation, during the first religious profession of the 13and 4 final professed Rev Srs who took the vow of poverty, chastity and obedience also witnessed the Silver Jubilee Celebration of Rev. Sr. Grace Agu, who clocked 25 years in the vineyard of the Lord.
The final professed sisters include Sisters MaryJane Ngozi Orjiogbonnaya, Theresa Chinyere Okeoma, Agatha Oluchukwu Uguru, and Lucy Nkechinyere Anusi, who is a sister to the Director of Fides Communications, Awka, Rev. Fr. Martin Anusi.
While the first professed Sisters were Lucy Obasi, Judith Orji, Christiana Eberechukwu Anaga, Clementina Aniamalu, JaneFrancis Enwerem, Sandra Mlumun Yachiga, Benita Ohanemu, Mary Christopher, Rosemary Korie, Jennifer Chinyereze Eze, Helen Igbang, MaryCynthia Igwe, and Mary Ugwuoke.
During the Mass for the ceremony, the congregation was captivated as they stared at the Rev. Sisters who prostrated at the Altar during the Litany of the saints and prayers of profession.
Highlights of the ceremony include the offering of allegiance to the spirit of the congregation before the Bishop of the Diocese and the Mother General of the Congregation, Rev. Mother Nkiruka Offor. The signing of their vows and the reception of profession rings from the Bishop were part of the climax of the event.
In his homily, Rev. Fr. Godwin Oluoha, the Parish Priest of Sacred Heart, Onueke, Abakaliki, reminded the 4 final professed Rev Srs. of the journeys they were to embark on, and encouraged them to remain prayerful and steadfast as he assured them of God's greater and abundant love.
Addressing the first professed Rev. Sisters, the cleric enjoined them to keep pressing on in faith and holiness to achieve the desired goal, which was to get to the final stage of the mission. While he beckoned on the silver jubilarian, Rev. Sr Grace Agu, to continue championing the cause of the mission with her candle lit, he charged her to remain a source of light to others while commending her for her endless efforts in living the spirit of the congregation.
Fr. Oluoha urged parents, well-wishers as well as parishioners to render support to those working in the vineyard of God, as he pointed out that the mission was for the strong and willing in heart.
Speaking during the vote of thanks at her reception hall, Rev. Sister Lucy Nkechinyere Anusi appreciated God for His grace, thanked her family and all present for their support and care; and pledged her continuous service to God and humanity.
