An Uga-born Queen Uche Umeagukwu, has been crowned Miss Africa World, having won the keenly contested 2018 Pageant that was held in United States of America recently.
The Anambra State Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs, Culture and Tourism, Dr Mrs. Sally Mbanefo, made this known at grand receptions in honour of the Miss Africa World at Aguata Local Government Secretariat and at Igwe Chidi Stephen Ezenwugo's Palace, Uga on Friday, July 5, 2018.
Queen Umeagukwu hails from Umuoru Village, Uga, Aguata L.G.A of Anambra State.
Dr. Mbanefo, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Diaspora Affairs, Culture and Tourism, Anambra State, Hon. Tony Ezenwaka, described the Miss Africa World Contest that was won by the Anambra State-born Queen Uche Umeagukwu as a great achievement of the ministry.
Speaking at the reception held at the local government secretariat, the Transition Chairman of Aguata Local Government Council, Hon. Eche Ezeibe, who was represented by the Head of Local Government Administration, Aguata, Dr. Tony Anadi, noted that the feat was another feather for Aguata, a local government known for her significant feature of boosting the glory of Anambra State. He added that Aguata people were known for their stride in skills and potentials.
Welcoming Queen Umeagukwu home, the local government boss congratulated Queen Umeagukwu for emerging the winner, having scaled through the rigorous exercise. He extolled the queen for her intelligence, natural and elegant beauty of an African woman, saying that her victory pointed to the fact that black is beautiful, and an African woman could with the right moral, right brain and right potential, be a superstar anywhere.
The chairman, who expressed his joy and that of the local government over the achievement, said it had both social and economic benefits for Aguata and the state. He commended the Anambra State Government under His Excellency, Dr Willie Obiano for deeming it worthwhile to celebrate the queen over the remarkable marks she made in the world.
In their various speeches, the member representing Aguata I Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Dr Ikechukwu Umenwa and Igwe Alfred Onwuneme of Ikenga, commended the queen, who they described as a worthy ambassador of the local government and state, for her recent remarkable feat.
In his remarks during the reception at his palace, Igwe Chidi Ezenwugo, Obi of Uga, thanked God for the feat attained by Queen Uche Umeagukwu, noting that it signified development, progress and giant strides in Uga, Aguata L.G.A and Anambra State.
The visibly delighted Uga monarch, congratulated Queen Umeagukwu on her world honour, commended her for the developmental programmes she initiated in Uga, Aguata L.G.A and Anambra State, and honoured her with Adadioramma title.
Uga Improvement Union (UIU), through the address signed by the President General (PG), Chief Sir James Umezulora (KSC), and the Secretary General, Chief Anthony Ekesiobi (Ph.D), and read by the secretary, thanked God for the Miss Africa World 2018 Contest which was worn by the Uga-born Queen in United States of America.
This was even as the community, through the address, extolled Queen Uche Umeagukwu, as light to the womenfolk in Uga, Aguata L.G.A, Anambra State, Nigeria and Africa at large.
On her part, the Miss Africa World, Queen Uche Umeagukwu, who hailed from Umuoru Village, Uga, said she was happy to come home after such rigorous and very competing beauty pageant which was for beauty, brain and business. Queen Umeagukwu, who likened the beauty pageant to fighting a war in Iraq, thanked God that she emerged the winner, and was crowned the Miss Africa World.
She thanked the Executive Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency Dr Willie Obiano for the reception in her honour and the Anambra in Diaspora Ambassador Award conferred on her as well as the Aguata Local Council, the traditional ruler, the entire people of Uga, the Oba of Lagos and the people of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area, Lagos for the honour bestowed on her.
