The son of the late highlife Maestro, Chief Stephen Osita Osadebe, Master Okechukwu Osadebe was on Friday lost to the ragging flood that has continued to devastate communities in Ogbaru Local Government Area.
The 18 year old Okechukwu was swept away by the flood in Atani, late last night but his body was found on Saturday morning.
According to the desseased mother, Mrs. Amaechi Osadebe, Okey as he was fondly called was in company of two persons when the flash flood swept him with no opportunity to swim out of danger as the current was too strong and turbulent.
The Ogbaru local government Chairman, Hon. Arinzechukwu Awogu, who was at the family house this morning to sympathize with the Osadebe’s family, regretted the losses the flood has inflicted on the people of the Local Government Area.
He urged the people to remain safety conscious, assuring that the flood situation would soon be over, stressing that caution should be the watchword for every resident as the flood lasts.
Meanwhile, the ravaging flood in Ogbaru Communities has claimed the life of Chief Ojike Ajanwu, a father of nine little children from Umuokpalaoma kindred, Obolo village, Ogwuaniocha who drowned on Friday in the flood at Ogwuaniocha.
According to the wife of the deceased Mrs. Chinasa Ajanwu who is nursing a one month old baby with eight other children, it was where they were taking refuge at the Holding Center located at Ogwuaniocha Community Primary School that they receive the message that her husband had drowned while attempting to evacuate his harvested cassava.
The deceased left behind a young wife, Chinasa who hails from Ossomala and nine children, the oldest of the children is thirteen years old.
The Chairman of Ignatius Local Government Areas, Honourable Arinzechukwu Awogu accompanied by Hon. Osy Odogwu, SA to the Governor paid a condolence visit to the family, assuring them of government’s support and promised to inform the Governor about the incident.
