A member representing Ayamelum Constituency in the newly inaugurated Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon Bernard Udemezue, has pledged total support to the state governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, for a prosperous and livable homeland.

Hon Udemezue, who was elected on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in the March 11 State Assembly Election, made the pledge while speaking with newsmen shortly after the inauguration ceremony on Monday at the State Assembly Complex, Awka.

While appreciating his constituents for choosing him to serve them, Hon Udemezue assured Ayamelum people of quality, pragmatic and effective representation, saying that he had begun to implement his manifesto for them, even before the inauguration.

His words, ‘I thank Umu Omor, I thank Umu Ayamelum, for giving me this honour to serve them as a lawmaker.

‘Even though I have started doing already what I planned for them before this inauguration, I’m assuring them of quality, pragmatic and effective leadership, and a different way of doing things for the good of all and sundry  and for a new Ayamelum.

‘For these, we will work with the governor to ensure that we get Ayamelum to the desired level it should be,’ the youthful lawmaker said.

Noting that Ayamelum was the food basket of the state, the new lawmaker urged Ayamelum Youths to embrace farming as a means of livelihood.

In the interview with newsmen, one of the Ayamelum stakeholders, Dr Romanus Ayadinuno, expressed confidence that Hon Udemezue would fulfill his promises to Ayamelum people beyond expectations.

He extolled what he described as the sterling leadership quality and generosity of the new lawmaker, praying God to guide, protect, and bless him with wisdom and grace to enable him to succeed.

One of the parents whose children benefitted from Hon Udemezue’s Education Scholarship Project recently, Mr Stephen Chinweuba, said Ayamelum needed the likes of Hon Udemezue for the educational development of the area.

According to Mr Chinweuba, the N2 million the lawmaker awarded to 10 best 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations candidates of Ayamelum origin to foot the financial requirement of their admissions would go a long way to inspire other children to have a desire for further education.

He urged the lawmaker to extend the same gesture to the tertiary institution students of Ayamelum origin in the form of bursary, to discourage the mad rush to what he described as the Yahoo Plus Syndrome that is holding the present generation hostage.

While expressing the hope that the lawmaker would do more for Ayamelum people, Mr Chinweuba thanked him and prayed God to reward, guide and bless him with wisdom.
