When you think of chewing/ eating something, what snack comes to your mind? Mine is chin – chin, this is because of the kwar – kwar sound I hear when chewing it. Funny, right?
This week, I'm going to teach you how to make a creamy, tasty yet crunchy chin – chin. The preparation is easy, the cutting is easy and the frying, much easier.
Let me introduce you to the ingredients:
Flour – 500grm
Baking powder – 1 tablespoon
Sugar – ½ cup
Butter – 200grm
Nutmeg – ½ tablespoon
Milk – ½ cup of liquid milk or 2 tablespoon of powder milk
Egg – 2
Cinnamon – ½ teaspoon
½ cup of room temperature water
A pinch of salt
Vegetable oil for frying
In a bowl, mix all your dry ingredients together. Add your butter to it and with your fingertips, mix thoroughly until its appearance becomes like bread crumbs.
Dig a well and pour all your wet ingredients into the mixture, mix very well until it forms a dough. Cover and allow to rest for 10-15mins.
Place the dough on a flat surface and knead very well for 3mins. At this point, the dough is ready for frying. Cut the dough into small balls, place it on flat table, using your rolling pin, roll the dough into a thin flat size, with your wheel cutter or knife, cut in cube size.
On a moderate heat, place your deep-frying pan and add your oil to it, allow to heat and then fry the chin – chin till light brown. (chin – chin like most fries, will go one shade darker after you've taken them off the hot oil)
Spread out the fried chin – chin on a paper towel and allow to cool completely,
Package in an air – tight container.
