The 'Save the African Girl Child Campaign' Foundation of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Agulu Chapter, on Friday June 8, 2018 took her campaign to St Anthony's Catholic Comprehensive Institute (SACCI) Agulu. The group was welcomed by the Assistant Manager of SACCI, Rev Fr Rowland Victor Okoli.
Addressing the SACCI girls only, the chief speaker of the foundation, Precious Ekwueme, said the principal message of the foundation is to let the African girl child realize and maintain the dignity of the African girl by being 'TIGHT' 'FRESH' and 'CLEAN'. Other speakers of the foundation equally implored girls to know that having boyfriends is not an achievement in life. Again that sex is not a cure for menstrual pain as erroneously purported by some sections of society.
The foundation further taught the girls that nudity is not beauty and that one's appearance, dressing, speech and carriage give a lasting impression of every girl. Again the group tried to let the girls realize that African girls are beautifully and wonderfully made by God and that the lack of facial beauty is not a hindrance to becoming successful in life.
The dangers of abortion, unwanted pregnancy and how to brace oneself in rape or abuse situations, formed part of discourse. The interesting interactive session ended with this quote from St Pope John Paul II 'If you are what you should be, you will set the whole world ablaze'. A teacher Lady Muomegha of SACCI appreciated the foundation on behalf of the school and promised to assist the girls remember the principles of living a full girl's life as taught them.
