Onyedum’s Appointment, Pointer to Soludo’s Plans for Sports

By Jude Atupulazi

The Chief of Staff to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, has described the appointment of Mr Patrick Estate Onyedum as the chairman of the Anambra State Sports Commission by the governor as a demonstration of the governor’s huge plans for sports development in the state. Mr Ezeajughi disclosed this in Awka, December 17, while delivering a lecture titled, “Driving Soludo Solution Agenda through Sports”, at the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Anambra Chapter 2022 Week and End-of- Year ceremony.

He said the governor was committed to making Anambra residents mentally and physically fit through sports, noting that Soludo had also started equipping and empowering sports professionals to thrive.

He disclosed readiness to partner with SWAN to publicise the state government’s programme and policies on sports, as well as other ways of mobilizing the citizenry for action.

He praised Onyedum for showing early indications of turning around the sports fortunes of the state by leading the state’s contingent to the just ended National Sports Festival in Delta State to a medal haul of 39.

‘SWAN is a worthy partner to communicate these activities through the mainstream and new media to bring back the standard of Anambra in sports,’ Ezeajughi stated.

Earlier, the chairman of SWAN in Anambra State, Mr Anthony Oji, had assured of the body’s readiness to assist the state government through what he described as good reportage and constructive critiquing.

The event held at La Cruz Hotel, Udoka Estate, Awka.
