Old Awka Forum Endorses Oye

. . . Honours Him with Award

A group under the aegis of Old Awka Forum (OAF, has endorsed the second term ambition of the national chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Ozonkpu (Dr.) Victor Ike Oye.

According to the group, Oye’s re-election was sacrosanct and their commitment in having it actualized remained total.

The group comprising Awka North/South indigenes and other relevant stakeholders in the areas during the solidarity cum endorsement rally organized in honour of the APGA national chairman, presented him with the award of Esteemed Excellence.

Speaking on the vision and mission of the association, the member representing Awka South I state Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. (Pharm.) Dr. Nnamdi Okafor, said that nineteen communities of the Old Awka Forum came together to forge a common front, noting that they wanted to be the best local government area in the establishment of brotherhood and sisterhood.

Hon. Okafor who is the House Committee Chairman on Health stated that they wanted to attract social, human and infrastructural developments through enhancement of civic amenities, employment opportunities, political appointments and basic infrastructure in Awka North and Awka South LGAs.

The lawmaker who described Oye as a blessing to APGA enjoined all to support his re-election bid, noting that all patriotic APGA family members had already accepted Oye for continuity.

Delivering a keynote address, the member Board of Trustees (BoT) of APGA Barr Chief (Mrs.) Ifeyinwa Obegolu, went down memory lane by giving a historical background of how the party was registered and the role she played at the time. She enjoined all to guard the party jealously and judiciously.

Barr. Obegolu, a member of the committee tasked with attending to the complaints and grievances of the aggrieved party members, chastised those who were hell bent on destroying the party, saying that no one who claimed to be aggrieved came forward with any fact or proof to indict the National chairman, Oye.

Moving a motion for the endorsement of Oye for second term, the Deputy Speaker Anambra State House of Assembly, and member representing Awka South II State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Barr. Harford Ikechukwu Oseke, said the group was advocating for Oye to return unopposed as the national chairman of APGA.

For his part, the chairman of the occasion and the traditional ruler of Amansea, HRH. Igwe Kenneth Okonkwo, appealed to all APGA members to rally-round Oye, noting that he (Oye) worked and deserved to be re-elected.

Contributing the special guest of honour, High Chief Azubuike Ekweozor, appreciated the group for coming up with the endorsement idea, describing it as noble, apt and timely.

The event was attended by party stalwarts, assembly members and stakeholders.
