‘The future of Nigeria lies in your hands. If you want it good, it is in your hands. If you want it bad, it is in your hands as well. For you to serve as a good leader, you must be humble and open-minded in nature.
‘As you can sense, Ohanaeze Ndigbo is a cultural organisation and not a political party; so I appeal to you all to resolve your differences with your aggrieved members for the sake of peace in Igbo Land,’ Okeke said.
The National Vice President, equally used the occasion to appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to order the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, from the DSS detention.
Ichie Okeke-Ogene announced the establishment of zonal offices nationwide, saying that the established offices were part of the organization’s agenda, led by its National Chairman, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, to sustain the already existing peace and unity among Ndi Igbo and their host communities across the country.
He noted that the 19 Northern States Zonal Office was located in Abuja; the Southwest Zone located in Lagos State; while the South-East/South-South Zones jointly have theirs located in Enugu State.
He said the offices would serve as meeting points, where Ohanaeze leaders would be meeting to discuss issues affecting the Igbo living in all parts of the country.
According to him, with the emergence of Chief Iwuanyanwu as the President of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, the organisation had risen again. He noted that he facilitated the creation of the zonal offices to enable Igbo living outside Igbo Land to know what they were doing.
