Awka Diocesan Women's Conference (ADWOC) led by the President of the conference, Mrs Martha Chioma Ibezim, have presented a posthumous award of Profile Mother to Ezinne Gladys Mbanugo Adubasim, who died shortly before the conference had the opportunity of crowning her.

The award was the deceased's efforts in evangelism during her life time.

At the event, Mrs Jessie Okafor, Mama General, Nise in Awka South Local Government Area, was invested as the ''Mother of Faith''.

The Nise Community had stood still for the honour, with guests treated to a lavish meal at Ugochukwu Villa, Isiakpu, Nise, by her children.

Speaking to Fides, one of the sons of Mrs Jessie Okafor, the Mother of Faith, Mr Samuel Okafor, MD of Samok Block Industry, Nise, lauded the sterling qualities of his mother that stood her out to be so honoured and thanked God for His mercies upon her.

At the conference, women offered special prayers, thanksgiving, cutting of the conference cake and rendered special renditions, including those by the choir.

The conference at Immanuel Anglican Church, Ukwulu, had its theme as ''Hold fast to what you have till I come''.

The Bishop of Awka Diocese, Right Reverend Alexander Ibezim, encouraged the women to hold fast in their families, stating that such conference would help them to recover some of the things taken away from them.

The President of the conference, Mrs Martha Ibezim, who is the President of Mothers Union, Women's Guild and Girls Guild, Awka Diocese, said the conference aimed at bringing the women together, look at how far they had gone in discharging of their duties and responsibilities in their homes and parishes.

The Vicar of the host church, Reverend Canon Bernard Obiekwe, noted that the gathering was an opportunity to provide spiritual upbringing to all women in the diocese.
