The Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) has congratulated all those who have been declared winners of the various elective positions in the just concluded general elections in Nigeria.
The statement was endorsed by the Most Rev'd Dr. Buba Lamido and Ven. Dr Paul Dajur, Dean, Church of Nigeria and General Secretary, Church of Nigeria, as well as the Most Rev'd Nicholas D. Oko, the Archbishop, Metropolitan and Primate of All Nigeria (Anglican Communion).
The statement specifically noted the President-Elect, Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR); the Vice President-Elect, Prof Yemi Osinbajo (GCON); all the Governors-Elect; Senators-Elect and members of the House of Representatives from the 36 States and Federal Capital Territory, as well as members of State Houses of Assembly.
'We wish to assure you of our fervent prayers for the grace to keep the trust reposed in you by your elections. We request that you ensure that the next four years will witness peace, stability, cohesion, unity, justice, equity, fairness and freedom for all the citizens of this country.
'One thing God has spoken, two things I have heard: Power belongs to you, God, and with you, Lord, is unfailing love, and, you reward everyone according to what they have done. (Psalm 62:11-12)
'May prosperity, oneness, security of life and property, brotherly love and affection, as well as true sense of patriotism be the hallmark of your tenure.’
