In a bid to support and improve healthcare delivery in the state, Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State has presented cheques worth two hundred and eighty-eight million, five hundred thousand Naira to faith-based healthcare facilities in the state.
Governor Obiano made the presentation at Professor Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Centre, Awka.
While Catholic healthcare facilities got a total sum of one hundred and ninety seven million, seven hundred and fifty thousand Naira, healthcare facilities managed by the Anglican faith were presented with a cheque worth sixty one million two hundred and fifty thousand Naira, as well as the Pentecostal faith health facilities managed by the Pentecostals who were presented with a cheque worth thirty million Naira.
The Catholic faith has 42 recognized hospitals, Anglicans have 26, while Pentecostals have one.
According to Governor Obiano, since inception, his administration had given aid to faith-based facilities in the state to the tune of two billion, one hundred and seventy four thousand Naira.
Members of the State Executive Council; royal fathers led by South East and Anambra State Traditional Rulers’ Council Chairman, Igwe Alfred Achebe; Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Dr. Paschal Agbodike; Presidents-General; Transition Committee Chairmen, among others, attended the event.
