Obiano Inaugurates Anambra State 50 Year Development Plan Committee

The Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, has inaugurated a 51-man Anambra State 50 Year Development Plan Committee tagged, ”Vision 2070”, with former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, as chairman.

Inaugurating the committee, Obiano, at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia, charged them to deliver within 9 months, saying that the plan would be a comprehensive document for Ndi Anambra, irrespective of political party in power.

Names of the committee members and their designations are as follows: Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo – Chairman; Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu – Executive; Primus Odili – Executive; Attorney General of Anambra State (legal) – Executive; Prof Kate Omenugha – Executive; Mr Ifeatu Onejeme – Executive; Mr Mark Okoye, Executive; Dr. Olisa Agbakoba, SAN – Technocrat; Mr. Ben Akabueze – Technocrat; C- Don Adinuba – Executive; Dr. Charles Muoka – Technocrat; Tony Onyima, Technocrat; Dr. Ikem Odumodu-Technocrat; Mazi Ejimofor Opara, Youth; Chibuize Ofobuike, Youth; David Anaeto, Youth; Nelson Omenugha, Youth; Nze Uche Nworah, MD/CEO ABS, among others.

In his acceptance speech, the Committee Chairman, Prof. Soludo, thanked the Governor for the privilege to serve Ndi Anambra in that capacity.

‘It is always an honour and privilege to serve whenever one is called upon. We can assure you that what we shall have, shall be nothing but an “A” document because, Anambra is an “A” State.

‘As we move on, we shall co-opt many hands to join in this project. We shall go the extra mile to hire so many other development experts across Anambra to help in building a document that will transform Anambra for better,’ Soludo said.

The Committee is expected to broaden the vision and mission of the State, identify specific areas that the plan will focus on, define the objectives that each plan will focus on, develop specific policies, programmes and strategies aimed at attaining the vision in a 50-year period, categorize these specific strategies into short-term, medium-term, and long-term plan/framework.

The Committee is also to define expected outcomes from the implementation of the strategies identified in the plan, develop a holistic and result oriented platform for funding requirement, as well as funding sources for the development initiative and programmes of the state with milestone, timeframe and critical success factors for each initiative, ensure that the would-be policy framework will be owned by Ndi Anambra.

Reacting over his appointment, a former student leader and PhD student, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, China and the Convener, Youths Earnestly Seek Soludo, Comrade Nelson Omenugha, said he received with the greatest sense of responsibility, the appointment by the Governor of Anambra State, as a member of Anambra 50-Year Development Plan Committee, and urged for prayers from family and friends to succeed.
