NYSC Anambra State recently carried out a free health outreach programme under the auspices of NYSC Health Initiative For Rural Dwellers (Hird) at Ihiala Local government area of the state.
Speaking while kicking off the programme, Mr Kehinde Aremu-cole, State Coordinator, NYSC Anambra, said the event is targeted to bring free medical care to the poor and vulnerable rural dwellers who have no access to medical care.
The Coordinator who said the programme is planned to care for about a thousand people, also noted that Ihiala was chosen due to its distance from medical facilities available at the state capital as well as to give the people access to care which have eluded them. He further explained that many people lack adequate health awareness which resulted in their being ignorant of having underlining health conditions. He therefore called on the people to utilize the opportunity to check and treat themselves.
Earlier, Hon. Engr. Jude Obi, Chairman of Ihiala LGA, who was represented at the event by LG Secretary was full of appreciation. He described the programme as impactful and thanked NYSC for the gesture.
In her introductory address at the occasion, the Assistant Director in charge of Community Development Service and the organizer of the event, Mrs Bene Nwokeke called on the people of Ihiala to make the most use of the programme to attend to their health needs.
