A House of Assembly aspirant for Anambra West State Constituency, Hon Tony Collins Nwabunwanne, has dedicated an award given him by the Students Union Government of Nnamdi Azikiwe University to the Anambra State Governor, Chief Wilie Obiano, and his wife, for, according to him, providing him with the opportunity to serve his people as Transition Chairman of Anambra West.

Nwabunwanne who spoke to Fides in Awka, said he would not have had the opportunity to impact positively on the lives of his people if not for the appointment and the support he got from the wife of the governor.

Recalling his time as Transition Chairman, he expressed satisfaction that he was able to leave a positive imprint in the minds of the people through the various projects he executed, as well as human capital development.

Nwabunwanne who said his aspiration to the House of Assembly was to further improve on what he had started for his people at a higher level, promised to use his wealth of experience and connections to make that possible.

According to him, his membership of the House of Assembly would change the narrative of Anambra West politics as it would witness a robust and people-oriented representation based on regular consultation with the people.

He described the award by the students as an honour, noting that his nomination was after a thorough screening and investigation of his track record.

He said the award, the third he would win recently, is among many others he earlier received. He described it as eloquent testimony that his contributions to the welfare of his people had not gone unnoticed.

‘This will certainly spur me into doing more. I see politics as a platform of rendering service to people and my mission to the State Assembly is to improve and increase my service to the people,’ the award winner said, even as he thanked the donors for their thoughtfulness.
