The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State Council newly elected executive members recently visted the first female Professor of Mass Communication in Sub-Saharan Africa, former Head of Department of Mass Communication, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, immediate past Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, NAU, Fellow of Nigerian Guild of Editors, Fellow Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and current Caretaker Committee Chairman, Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Anambra State Chapter, Prof. Chinyere Stella Okunna.
NUJ state officers during the visit commended the former Commissioner for Information, Economic Planning/Budget, and Chief of Staff in ex-Governor Peter Obi’s eight-year administration for her immense support towards the Union and also for her numerous contributions in the development of journalism in Anambra and Nigeria in general.
NUJ officials also visited the current Head of Department of Mass Communication, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Associate Professor Uche Ebeze.
In their separate speeches, the highly elated duo, thanked the NUJ’s leadership for the visit and kind words, even as they promised to continue to support the Union in all her activities in the State.
In the same vein, NUJ officials also visited the Managing Director of Transport Company of Anambra State (TRACAS) Dr. Ifeoma Madukasi.
NUJ State exco during the visit applauded the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Chief (Dr.) Willie Obiano for repositioning TRACAS and also for finding Dr. Madukasi worthy to head the establishment.
Responding the TRACAS boss thanked NUJ executive members for the visit, assuring that they would maximize the opportunity presented to them by the pen pushers by partnering the Union in the state.
